YM conversation to start my long day.

I love hubby's male cousins here to bits. Despite the fact that they all grew up here, they are still very much Filipino. My favorite is JR, he's half American but he's the very Filipino of them all. In fact, even his GF is a Filipina and we had this conversation this early morning. We only catch up on YM these days (save for the times that I need him to drive me and our son hee) as we live far from them (we used to live just another block away from them). Our YM chats always end hilariously funny and green hee.

I Scream Ice Cream series (mint & real strawberries.)

Yesterday's trip to grocery and Asian market was a schock. We exceeded our very practical budget and we didn't even fill up the cart! Hubby and I stared at each other when the cashier has finished punching all the stuff we bought. I made sure to take most stuff that were on sale. We were even able to grab 5 big cans of Delmonte Spaghetti (four cheese and garlic/onions) at 50 cents each. We just assumed that most of the food commodities prices have increased, blame it on the escalating gas prices. When we were at the Asian Market, we had to forego our fish and beef because the prices were skyrocketing!!! We are settling on veggies, pork and chicken for these 2 weeks.

Instead of having 5 half gallons of Edy's, we only got 2! And here's our flavors for the next 2 weeks: Mint Chocolate Chips and Real Strawberries.

full pantry and fridge.

It's monday and we were off to the grocery as early as 9am! We bought loads and filled the pantry and the fridge, most of them were snacks of the little buy. But we were surprised with our bill! A frikkin' $250!!!!! Yes, I am not kidding. I guess they have some price increase due to the fluctuating economy. But, then I made sure to get those on sale, so how come?!?! Oh well, maybe we bought some unnecessary snacks like buying 2 gallons of Edy's, 2 months stocks of mini-stripe's snacks and lotsa pasta mix LOL!. How did your monday go?

shorts season

I know it's Spring and summer is just around the corner. But, if you are in the East Coast, you can still feel the cold winds every so often making it impossible to wear baby tees, tank tops and shorts and other light clothing. Last weekend, when we visited our future crib to check on the bathroom faucet, lighting fixtures and other stuff, I braved the cold wind and wore shorts for the 1st time here! I felt a little cold towards the end of the day since we spent a couple more hours in the playground with mini-stripe, but otherwise, I survived. So, I told hubby to bring me to that cheap store which sells very beautiful but affordable cargo shorts, similar to my current Gap Shorts eyecandies:

while I was away...

HEY I'M ALIVE AND KICKING

I'm Back!
Read HERE why I haven't been updating this blog along with my other blogs for 4 days. Which is so UNme heee!

While I was offline during the weekend, hubby and I were so busy listing down the progress of the logistics for our big move! We were too excited that we even visited the place again for the nth time. He checked on the lighting fixtures, bathroom faucets and closets. We were very impressed that it was VERY squeaky clean! I am even planning to buy potted roses and daisies and other wild colorful flowers which will be placed in our patio so everytime we have breakfast overlooking the sliding door, we have a feel of nature even in our humble small crib. I so can't wait.

For now, I am back to full blogging mode and will hop hop away!

my son is an addict.

You will not believe who won the ANTM cycle 10 hihihii. I was shrieking the entire time! But, that post will have to wait on friday when someone kind uploads the 13th episode in YouTube.

This is my weekend snapshots entry for this week. I wanted to share it here too. My son is an addict, he is obssessed with Transformers! He would watch transformers the movie (yes not the animation) 3x a day. So, here are photos of my 3-yr-old son's transformers toy collection.

and now transformed into cars.

plain homesick.

My friend, VAL said that probably the reason why I am getting VERY homesick is because of my son's 3rd birthday which I am used to celebrating it with my family plus I am hormonal these past days. I never miss my family this bad. I have never been away from them for more than a month and this has been the longest and the farthest separation we ever had. We are a closely knit type of family. I am the youngest and the only girl, so you could just imagine. Staying late doesn't help either as these videos makes me feel more melancholic. Hay hay hay! Check these videos, their worth your time. For the 1st time, I like Cory and Kris.

Also, click on this link: http://www.juicyjuice.com/Products/Commercials.aspx and click on the thumbnail on juicy juice mother's day TVC. It pretty sums up what we mothers would do for our kids, the little things are what matter the most. (for some reason, I couldn't upload the video here.) This nestle juicy juice TVC also reminds me why we are here, putting this migration thing in the right perspective, we are here only for 1 reason, for mini-stripe's future and better opportunities.

sigh.

If you may ask, I still haven't finished my school paper due tomorrow!!! I just can't put my mind on it right now. I have every research info I need but I am having a hard time putting them together. For the lack of inspiration, I watched the surprise send-off video my ex colleagues prepared for me during their surprise despedida party in red box. Instead of being inspired, I was saddened, I really miss Manila! You can watch and read more about this video HERE.

INSTANT is still the name of the game.

I pressumed everyone heard about POLAROID not producing their instant cameras, if not you could read the press release here: HERE. Yes, they have closed down all their Film Plants all over the world and have ventured in the digital camera world. I cannot totally relate with the mourning of Polaroid Instant Camera followers as I never owned one and was never a fan of the printed Polaroid pictures, they would turn out to be sepia-like after sometime. But since, I am currently doing a paper on it for my assignment due Thursday, I am sharing their big shift but still keeping the name INSTANT in their mission!

See what I mean: (This is total innovation Under Total Control! Astig!)

From THIS:

to THIS: POLAROID i834 Digital Camera

and this: Polaroid Pixie Digital Camera for kids

and THIS IS AMAZING: Polaroid INSTANT MOBILE Digital Printer, you can still have printed pictures instantly anytime, anywhere. What's nice about this is you can hook it up wirelessly to your camera cellphones via Bluetooth and print pictures from your digital Polaroid Camera thru a cable. Again, this is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!

INSPIRED: while doing a research paper on Polaroid hee!

coming soon...

Just a little tweaking here and there and some sleepless nights at stake. I am going to post when THIS will be ready for public viewing. This month, promiseS for the NTH time hee!

For those who want to link THIS up, go ahead. I will not request for ex-links though. THIS will be a form of some kind of real passion release on my part. Since the move, I have stopped doing this and attended to more important roles in my life. When THIS is done, all of you will be informed. Hoping for the same reception as this blog receives from everyone of you. Till then.

REMINISCING 2007...

better than ice cream and chips

I accidentally discovered that my laptop and iPod video are perfect buddies! Remember my entry on how Chips and Ice Cream are the perfect combo snacks? Well, my iPod and laptop are the perfect techie duo version of chips and Ice Cream. I was finishing up loads and loads of school paper when I decided to turn on my iPod. I assume I can't work well while listening to music, but apparently hearing music (particularly jazz and techno) when everyone else is asleep speeds up my brain. I was able to finish the paper at once. So, I tried it with blogging and blog assignments, whoa! I work faster with these gadgets duo.

RECORD BREAKER!!!

You know what they say about raining? That when it rain, it pours. Well, that happened to me in a span of 2 days, I was showered with 36 whopping opps (i just cleaned up my backlog 2 days ago). I am not here to brag, I am just proud that my hardwork paid off (sana tuloy tuloy na ito!) and I want to blog about this milestone in my paidblogging life hahahah! Now the thing is, I hope to be able to cope up with this # and not let any of these be put to waste by having them expired. One more entry here and I am off blogging on my Other BLOG.

In the meantime...

I am no fan of Pacquiao but I guess this is a record breaker for a Pinoy to really make it big globally speaking, sabi nga Just do it! I am proud of you Pacman!

this week's simplicity tips

To start off your busy week, some simplicity tips from My Simpler Life.

1. Burn a few extra calories by standing instead of sitting while you do simple chores like sorting paperwork or making calls.
2. Write a friend you haven't heard from in awhile.
3. It's a quarter of the way through the year, if you aren't a quarter of the way through your goals set some of the goals aside for now.
4. What needs of yours have you been neglecting lately?
5. Update your debt reduction plan and your spending plan or budget. How are they working?
6. Create an intention to think positive, powerful thoughts today.
7. Take a walk outside to notice the changing of the seasons.

I will definitely do #7. Happy Springtime to all!

goodbye winter! hello sandals and dresses!

spring

As I blogged it HERE, today, March 21 is the 1st official full day of spring! Yahoo! Everybody in the east coast is probably waiting for winter to be over. But yesterday, March 20 is when Equinox happened or the day when the rays of the sun changed it's direction at the equator. So to everyone, take out those sandals, havis, flipflops and shorts and dresses. Join me as I say hello to sunshine! Enjoy the rest of Springtime!

hapag kainan

I keep forgetting to blog this other side of me, not the cook or the baker wannabe but the hungry big-mouth eater in me. I have been craving for my mom's specialties and of course, all the other pinoy foods that are so easy to get and very very cheap to make. I tried doing my own version, that's the least I could do now huhuhu! Still waiting for my mom to visit us.

1.) TORTANG TALONG. I miss my yaya's tortang talong. Yaya Chona knows that I could eat more than 10 tortang talong in one sitting if she's the one who whipped it. What she does, is she grills the talong 1st before doing the torta. I couldn't grill as often as I want here, so what I do, I just boil it and then peel off the skin, then do the torta. Malayo pa rin sa gawa ni Yaya pero pwede na!

2.)ADOBO ALA TITA PILITS. I have been craving for this very cheap adobo that my officemate, tita pilits aka effie brings in our pantry every lunchtime. My goodness mamatay ka sa sarap ng taba and oil! Super sarap! We could finish more than 2 bowls of rice with all the oiliness in it. I made my own version last weekend. The pictures do not look appetizing but I swear pwede na rin! I just wonder why pork meat here are not so mataba hmmm.

3.)TILAPIA. It's so expensive to buy fresh tilapia here. The closest and cheapest we could get are tilapia fillets packed in a bag cost around $5.00. Okay na! I marinade this with onion mushroom soup, chopped ginger and garlic salt, then baked it. Hmmm! Pwedeng pwede na! Di na naman appetizing ang picture hhaha! Kaya nga may mga food stylists eh haha!

4.) Again, I miss Yaya Chona. Back home, she always makes sure that my son has a merienda waiting for him everytime he wakes up from naptime. Now, I have to think all of that on my own. I did this yummy pretzels with my son last week. Read the rest of the story HERE.

this week's simplicity tips

I'm doing #3 and #5, sounds fun! Have a good week everyone! toodleloo! Quoted from My Simpler Life.

1. Have a home and lifestyle that delights you and your family, not to impress others.
2. Do dishes right after dinner when they are easiest to clean.
3. Put a cup of water and lemon juice in the microwave for 5 minutes before cleaning the microwave.
4. Quit griping and complaining and see how good your life is.
5. Lose weight simply - use 9" plates instead of 11" plates.
6. Do you still love your collections?
7. Plan a picnic.

something serious? T-I-M-E.

Good Morning everyone!

After 3 days of sleeping early/killing the insomniac in me (with some serious and forceful pulling to bed c/o hubby), I feel rejuvenated. Which explains series of funny entries LOL! So, here's some serious post to begin my overloaded week. I woke up feeling confused when I checked my notebook clock it says 10:30 but the clock is an hour delayed. Here's comes DST time again.

According to this ARTICLE:
Daylight Saving Time Extended by Four Weeks in U.S. Starting in 2007
On Sunday, March 9 (the second Sunday in March) at 2 a.m., Daylight Saving Time begins in the United States. This is the second year that Daylight Saving Time is four weeks longer due to the passage of the Energy Policy Act in 2005. The Act, which extends Daylight Saving Time by four weeks from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November, is expected to save 10,000 barrels of oil each day through reduced use of power by businesses during daylight hours.
Every spring we move our clocks one hour ahead and "lose" an hour during the night and each fall we move our clocks back one hour and "gain" an extra hour. But Daylight Saving Time (and not Daylight Savings Time with an "s") wasn't just created to confuse our schedules.
The phrase "Spring forward, fall back" helps people remember how Daylight Saving Time affects their clocks.

So there you go, change your body clocks with me. Have a good week ahead.

uhuh? (sa mga homesick)

maraming salamat dito Mama Mee nabawasan na naman ang homesickness rate ko! LOL! Enjoy your weekend with this Bulgarian Music Idol as she sings KEN LEE by Mariah Carey.

ULTA vs SEPHORA

As you all know now, I am a pro make-up artist but on hiatus eversince I got here. Lately, I barely put make-up on myself, just a dab of NARS' orgasm multiple stick and some lipgloss, I'm all set. Everyday I jot down all the make-up ideas I think of so if given the next opportunity to have that photoshoot beside my mommyhood duties in this part of the world, I'm ready. Make-up is the sole reason why I watched America's Next Top Model every single wednesday! I perfectly know how to make wonders through brushes! Models are not necessarily pretty and they don't usually have the best skin in the world. So give credits to the people behind the tube most especially the hair & make-up crew!

During our Cali-Vegas vacay last year, I sat foot on my newest beauty haven in this other side of the world. I was like a little kid visiting some candy store. SEPHORA was a really must-stop shop for me.
However, from where we are there is no nearby Sephora, just ULTA. For one thing, I don't like ULTA as they don't carry as much brands as Sephora does and the artists are not as accomodating as Sephora's artists are. I was sooo happy to see SEPHORA inside the newest JC Penney in the nearby Williamsburg which I blogged HERE.

FOR THE RECORD: This is the 1st time I post a photo of myself in this blog and probably would be the last lol!
