By now, most of you have been frequenting my food blog which I am tremendously enjoying as it is the most updated of all my other blogs. Anyways, as much as I want to Cook off some seafood dishes, I can't most of the time. You see, seafoods here can get so expensive and comes out unfresh. A piece of milkfish here costs 5 dollars and it's not even the large size huh. Anyways, as I was looking for some new seafood recipes, this is what I saw: Great American Seafood Cook Off. It is said to be one of America's largest culinary contest which will award 5 recipes and 5 chefs from all over the country. Their main goal is to spread the "positiveness of domestic seafood sustainability”. I am quite excited on the top 5 winning recipes and I bet you, I'll be a follower of this contest.
cooking off!

ultra-light feminine tops
I was telling hubby how much I miss shopping! After having chatted with my Mom and she raving to me the good finds she got from shopping the other day, I realized I haven't really shopped for myself for quite a long time now. Because, even if I do, I just can't see any occassion where I will wear my shopping finds. We rarely go out and if we do, I just need to put on a shorts, capri or a nice plaid cut-offs and some plain top. But, let's see what I can grab from GAP online, of course. Online shopping is my best preferred shopping method these days. Ain't they all summerish? I like I want I gotta have!

High Vista Coupons
I have a lot in my hands right now. One of them is to order personal checks for my and hubby's joint checking account, we ran out of cheques and we do not want the regular type the bank has now. Also, hubby's Aunt wants us to look for designs for her business checks. You see, this Aunt-in-law of mine has so much belief in our taste, really, no kidding. Sometimes it is becoming too over-acting. haha!
I chanced upon vistaprint while looking for customized designs and whoa! I had a blast choosing designs for our personal checking account instead. You can even customize the design. All you need to do is upload your design and voila, they'll have it printed for you and wait for it to be delivered in your doorstep. Just enter your account information to easily re-order cheques. It is Safe, secure ordering and just by adding 99 cents, you can add your icon and monogram design. I tell you that is quite a deal as their rates are very competitive and surprisingly cheap. This is one of the things I like here, because back home they don't offer customization of both personal and business cheques. We gotta order one now. Yey!

break that skin spell.
I just have to share this. I wonder, maybe I should change my template as this blog is turning from fashion and meme blog to a medical, health and fitness blog hee. Seriously, after the cord blood blank, this I gotta share. I chanced upon this website which talks about Dr. Chantal Burnison and her pharmaceutical company. Generally, it talks about the the breakthrough skin-rejuvenating molecule, Ethocyn. Ethocyn is claimed to help men and women reduce the natural effects of aging on their skin’s appearance or more clearly saying that Ethocyn helps in combatting wrinkles! I mean there are a lot of other skin care products that claim they are anti-wrinkle treatment but this Ethocyn seem like to have a scientific explanation to back up their claims. To know more about it visit www.ethocyn.com.

cord blood bank
When I was pregnant with my son, my obstetrician-gynecologist had these pamphlets on Cord blood bank. I remembered scanning a few of them and somehow had a gist on The Value of Cord Blood. Hubby and I are not really for it as it was quite new at that time and it was really expensive. However, I have always been hearing about Cord Blood Bank particulary that of Cryo-Cell. Generally, Cord Blood banking is used for Treating Diseases with Stem Cells. The Umbilical cord stem cells are known to treat 70 diseases, including leukemia, anemia, lymphoma, diabetes and cerebral palsy. In the United States, 30,000 people a year are diagnosed with a disease that can be treated with cord blood stem cells. According to Cryo-Cell's website:
"By the year 2015, there will be 10,000 cord blood transplants world-wide per
year using publicly banked cord blood."
Cryo-Cell claims to be one of the world’s largest and most established family cord blood banks with over 150,000 clients worldwide. I guess in the future this will be widely popular not only in America but also in other parts of the world.

network solutions
Information technology had become a part of our daily lives. Even the small and medium businesses need information technology to get things done. They need to do this in order to be competitive and known in the global market. Even hubby's aunt's small time laundry business has begun to hire 3rd party resources to manage her clients database and finances. When I was helping her out look for a reliable 3rd party IT consultant, I chanced upon networksolutions. com where they focus on enhancing network solutions careers. This site has a host of free resources to help small and medium enterprises/businesses who wants to develop their domain. They also give advices and important information on how to better manage domain registration needs, solve problems related to selling and marketing online, creating a Web presence, and using security certificates to protect customer information and to guard against fraud. There are featured webinars and seminars which explore issues such as pay-per-click and search engine optimization techniques, and provide practical knowledge about strategies, tactics, and solutions for marketing online. Actually, even if you do not have business but wanted to optimize your own personal blogs or domains, you can lear a lot from this site. So better visit them now at networksolutions.com.

dresses for the pretty tots.
Since a number of my blogging buddies and friends are on the way with their 2nd bundle of joys and majority of them are carrying baby girls, I thought of posting these cutie dresses. Whenever I shop for mini-Stripe, I end up clicking the girls page. Oh how I really hope and pray that my 2nd baby will be a girl. We are not yet ready to have another child, not this year or the next, maybe in 2010.

and these pretty dresses I saw from Macy's or JC Penney (i think) hahah! my bad!

a cure for cancer?!?
We are all aware that cancer is a deadly disease and no matter how hard we pray for its cure, there will always be a remission stage. The mom of a dear friend of mine has been diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and it was all good. All of a sudden, I received an email from her that there might be a suspected remission as the doctors have found water in her lungs. Hubby's dad died of cancer at age 58.
I chanced upon Resveratrol as the widely speculated cure for cancer. This is the 1st time it will be tested publicly. If you have cancer or your relatives have cancer and wanted to know more about this "cure", join the resveratrol forum for more information.

this week's simplicity tips
Sorry for the late posting, this came on Monday but my Monday was such a blur. Anyhoo, here's this week's simplicity tips from: My Simpler Life and I am seriously doing number 7 after working (and studying) so hard the past months. I needed a break, after all. Happy Tuesday everyone!
1. Forgive yourself for a recent mistake.
2. Add 50% to the time frame for your projects.
3. Remember it really doesn't have to be done today.
4. Eliminate one unrealistic expectation.
5. Join the August Declutter Challenge: http://www.mysimplerlife.com/blog/p=1187
6. If your current method of trying to reach a goal isn't working, try something else.
7. Take a day off work sometime in the next two months.

Sunday.
The remainder of our Sunday was spent lazing over some gizzard meal Hubby prepared. We were having a feast day while watching THE BUZZ (haha! I love AiAi's outfit!). During the night, Hubby and I were moving boxes. These boxes are new sets of balikbayan boxes that are to be sent home. I was happy seeing the boxes being filled. Tomorrow the courier will pick them up and in 30 days, my folks will receive them. Just in time for my Dad's birthday. Oh I miss them sooo much! I hope the boxes will compensate our absence. So much for being so apart from your loved ones. Sigh. I gotta hit the sack now, I swear I blogged like crazy!

my diet files
Since I made public my Food Blog, a couple of friends asked me this question: "does Apidexin work?"
Honestly, I cannot vouch on diet pills as I haven't tried them myself. In fact, I usually discourage my friends from taking them. No matter how slow my weight loss would be by adapting weight loss program the natural way, I would never join the bandwagon and purchase myself some diet pils. I am just scared at the thought of it.
Anyways, here's sharing a weight loss program, I share with my friend: VAL. You can read more about this HERE.
EXERCISE: A minimum of 30 minutes/day (only during busy days) and a maximum of 1.5 hours/day. This would include cardio and muscle toning targeting problem areas. My problem areas include my tummy and upper thighs.
MEALS
BREAKFAST: (6:00-8:00am)
OPTION 1: oatmeal (plain, with milk or sliced fruits), a cup of coffee, tea or orange juice.
OPTION 2: 2 slices of toast with light butter, jam or cheese, a cup of coffe, tea or orange juice.
OPTION 3: --->can only be eaten 2-3 times a week: egg (unsalted but can use spices/garnish), 2 slices of plain toast, a cup of coffee, tea or orange juice.
LUNCH: (11:30-12:30 nn)
1/3 cup of rice and 1 viand (preferably not friend)
soup or stew with a slice of bread
pasta (non-creme based sauce pls!)
WATER WATER WATER!
DINNER: (7:00-8:00 pm)
Salad (oil and vinegar-based dressing ONLY!)
soup or stew
sandwich: turkey, grilled tuna or chicken with veggies (light mayo)
WATER or Red Wine
IN BETWEEN MEAL SNACKS: (3 hours after a meal)
a piece of fruit
crackers
'dry' cereal
water, fruit juice, cup of tea
NO SNACKS AFTER 9PM
OFF DAY: Only 1 day in the week is off day. It is preferable to choose either Saturday or Sunday as it is usually family day which connotes "feast" day. :-)

what's your bills IQ?

You should see me when I was so much younger and was kinda newbie when it comes to credit card usage, I maxed out every credit card I have! Fortunately, before I even dug myself into a big debt hole and avail of the Debt help and Debt relief programs, my mom was constant in giving me advices and warnings. When I realized that all of my income are being deposited to credit card payments, I stopped myself and cut all my credit cards.
I realized it was a blessing in disguise, indeed. I am just grateful that I had to learn all these financial management hullabaloo early on in my life--before I even get married and have a son, and before my husband entrusted me with the household financial management responsibility. I would say that I have grown financially wise and mature all these years. I am able to control myself on things I want to buy but are not priorities. Thanks to the warnings I got from my mom, I wouldn't waste my time on Debt consolidation and Credit counseling.

will you have one?
When it comes to botox in Chicago, I heard that Park Ridge Botox is one of the best in that area. I have no hesitations on getting one when I'm old and grey. But as much as possible I don't want my face being poked and injected with foreign objects. So as early as now, I try to moisturize as much as I can, eat less oily food to avoid this artificial method. But if the time comes and I need one (and I have a budget for it), I wouldn't mind at all. Well, I am saying that now but the big question is when I have the money for it and I really need it, will I have the guts to see those foreign objects being injected in my face? I don't know hee.

My mom was so happy to announce that she got an electric purple Sony Ericsson W380i. She was raving to me on how good it is. I surfed on it and guess what, I am jealous! My goodness! The features are to die for and most especially the color! Haha! Anyways, she promised to get me one when she comes here for a visit.
Made for music - Walkman® on top.
The W380a reacts to the touch of your fingertips. Music buttons on the outside of your phone let you play, pause and skip track. And when you want to listen to radio, just tune in.

steel toe shoes
One of hubby's Uncle works for a bottle company. He gets to do rounds on their production department. Since, those places are dangerous and are very hot, he wears steel toe shoes whenever he checks on his staff in the production. Every time he goes home, he has fascinating stories of his staff working at the production. He said all of them sport different designs of working shoes. But generally, he's a huge fan on shoes. You should see his shoe cabinet, I tell you he can challenge every woman shoeholic with his shoe collections, they're he has tons in every color and design.

boating under the influence.
I did not know that Boating Operating Under the Influence is really a serious matter until I watch that video above. The boater may think that he or she may harm themselves only but the marine life is gravely being harmed too. If you are a boater, make sure to take responsibility and do not operate your boats under the influence.

Power of Prayer
I did this prayer tag a few days after the MV Princess accident. But, I am doing it now after Mich forwarded it to me. Looks like we need more prayers as this issue hasn't been resolved yet. Let's all continue to pray to all the victims and their families. Passing this on to Aidisan, Val, Juliet and Kathy.
Prayer for the MV Princess of the stars fatalities and survivors.
Dear God, we pray that you comfort each bereaved family everyday as they grieved for their loss, we pray that you will supply all their needs, we pray for the survivors
that they may have a good life after the tragedy, that you will bless them and let them know in the deepest part of their heart that in spite of what have happened, you LOVE and CARE for them. This we pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. I encourage everyone to keep the prayer going. LET’S P.U.S.H. (PRAY UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS).

what to do on Sunday.
Yey, I caught hubby checking out Busch Gardens' website. You see, when our son and I went there the other Sunday he was busy with something else and therefore he missed the fun. But I've got 2 more extra tickets and I assumed we're going back this Sunday. However, when I asked him, he has something in mind. He wants to try the paintball center in Hamptons! He said he missed sporting the red and blue paintball gear he used to wear when we played paintball back home. Now, this is a tough choice! Busch Gardens or paintball. Where do we go on Sunday? Yay!

Eventhough I love the LV Brand, I think these shoes are too much for me (as if afford ko!). But even if I can afford these, I won't be caught wearing them. These shoes will definitely fall into my category of brands-screaming-stuff-and-therefore-not-my-type. I swear (I use this word so much!) I'd die being so conscious wearing these. But, I bet they must be really comfortable to hump in. Don't you think?

Amish I like.
I have mentioned in my main personal blog that hubby and I were shocked with the prices of home furnitures here particularly that of mattresses. A decent mattress with spring mattress can go up from $800. While memory foam mattress and other types of regular mattresses ranges from $400-$2000! We bought the mattress already but we still do not have a bed frame. Good thing I chanced upon The Bedroom Space because they currently offer discount bedroom furniture. They claim to be the leader in providing quality bedroom furniture for the home at the best prices anywhere. They carry brands of top products from a broad range of manufacturers including Henkel Harris, Klaussner, Pulaski, Kathy Ireland by Standard, Modloft and many others. Their choices are actually a lot which makes me hard to choose. I just don't know how much they would charge me for the shipping, if it's beyond our budget then it will offset the discount. If this is the case, we would just grab a bed frame in the nearest furniture store. But, it better be soon because I often get dizzy when I sleep on a mattress only probably I got used to the high bed we used to have.

I Scream Ice Cream series (mint & real strawberries.)
Yesterday's trip to grocery and Asian market was a schock. We exceeded our very practical budget and we didn't even fill up the cart! Hubby and I stared at each other when the cashier has finished punching all the stuff we bought. I made sure to take most stuff that were on sale. We were even able to grab 5 big cans of Delmonte Spaghetti (four cheese and garlic/onions) at 50 cents each. We just assumed that most of the food commodities prices have increased, blame it on the escalating gas prices. When we were at the Asian Market, we had to forego our fish and beef because the prices were skyrocketing!!! We are settling on veggies, pork and chicken for these 2 weeks.
Instead of having 5 half gallons of Edy's, we only got 2! And here's our flavors for the next 2 weeks: Mint Chocolate Chips and Real Strawberries.

migraine.
I noticed my headaches (or should I say migraine) bouts are getting more and more often. I had to take a short nap this morning because I feel very light-headed and a bit dizzy. It's weird because I have been sleeping earlier than usual. Could it be the new set of vitamins I have been taking or I need new eyeglasses from ZenniOptical? I see they are now being recommended by Clark Howard Show. Despite the cheap rates, they are really making it good out there in the market probably because the quality of their eyeglasses are still intact. Fox also featured them, by the way.
Anyways, going back to my headache bouts. Hubby said these must be caused by spending too much time infront of the laptop and my eyes are the ones badly affected by it. However, I have another thing in mind. I don't want to make assumptions just yet but could it be that I could be pregnant? Oh c'mon I always tell that to myself every end of the month hee and it never happened. Baby #2 is not on our plans but if it comes, so be it, we welcome blessings! Still, this dizziness and light-headedness are just getting unusual tsk tsk. I'll keep you all updated.

AE's model...
Kamukha talaga siya ni Heart Evangelista, I swear!
Do you remember this post? Eversince, I have been following this AE model. I hope she's half-Asian (at least) if not half-Filipino. I find her beauty really simple but very natural. You see, I have this thing for American Brands who feature Asian Models after the Tommy Hilfiger scandal. Then again, it happened to Hollister when they declared that their tees are for Westerns only. So when my cousin and I saw this Hollister modelling in one of their branches in Vegas, we were surprise to find out that they feature an Asian model. Hmmm, change of times?
I guess if you want your brands to be global, forget racism and think global. Peace.

the answer is in the payday loans
When will these gas prices stop from going up?
I was watching Balitang Amerika the other day and a group of Filipinos from California are complaining about their situation, some were even on strike because they seek for higher pay. Times in this side of the world are really hard, but my Mom claims that this is a global crisis. No one is spared from this crisis. Some shops in the nearby commercial building have been closing out and hubby said the fastfood business is also affected. People would just eat at home rather than dining out.
No wonder, many would turn to Payday Loan Fast because it is the easiest way to replenish those empty wallets and save many from their unending bills. Let's all pray this would end soon.

tarps and more.
In my opinion, farmers in this side of the world, are the richest people. I spoke with someone during my California trip and he told me that the silent millionaires of U.S. are the farmers. He was able to convince me in the end and I was even surprised to find out that the person I was talking to has 4 major farms in the southern California. I swear he looks so humble. I only figure and asked him more about his job when he told me about his newly purchased semi trailer tarps from Agri-Cover, Inc. Oh well, that's what I like about living here, you can never distinguish the big difference of society classes here.

full pantry and fridge.
It's monday and we were off to the grocery as early as 9am! We bought loads and filled the pantry and the fridge, most of them were snacks of the little buy. But we were surprised with our bill! A frikkin' $250!!!!! Yes, I am not kidding. I guess they have some price increase due to the fluctuating economy. But, then I made sure to get those on sale, so how come?!?! Oh well, maybe we bought some unnecessary snacks like buying 2 gallons of Edy's, 2 months stocks of mini-stripe's snacks and lotsa pasta mix LOL!. How did your monday go?

this week's simplicity tips
Happy Monday everyone! I have a lot of things to accomplish this week but guess what, it' just Monday and the Lazy Bug hit me! I feel sleepy, sluggish and tired. I won't ever buy those junkfoods again and I will diligently go back to doing my exercise routine. Anyhoo, here's this week's simplicity tips from: My Simpler Life.
1. Show gratitude to someone who serves you regularly.
2. Notice someone doing what you want to and praise them.
3. Give thanks for the services as you pay the bills.
4. What do you want more free time for?
5. What can you give up for the rest of the season to make time for what you want to do?
6. Schedule at least one fun thing to do this week.
7. What important task have you been avoiding?

her best Summer vacation
My next travel destination is New York. Too bad as last year, we were supposed to spend our Holidays there but at the last minute, it got cancelled. A friend of mine who has been there recently for her summer getaway with her fiance was raving on how beautiful Kennedy Space Center is. She emailed me tons of her photos in New York as well as tips on things to do in New York when it's my turn to visit the city. You see, this friend of mine is a great travel planner that is why most of her trips end up being a success. She would only spend 2-3 days in a certain destination but she can maximize her time during those short trip. One of her travel tips include getting as much online travel guides she would be needing, she would research on her travel destinations months before her actual trip. Actually she told me to signup with this website: trustedtours.com and subscribe for their newsletter. They have a special where a person can win a $150 iTunes Gift Card by signing up for our newsletter. If you are looking for reliable online travel guides, sign-up for a newsletter at trustedtours.com.

football fridge
Last week, hubby came home with 2 dozens of soda in can. My son is a Soda Addict at age 3, that is why we try not to stock some soda at home. However, those 2 dozens were given, so who are we to refuse. As you all know, I have been trying to cut down on my food intake to shed off excess weight, thus SODA is a no no to me. But, how could I resist such cold cold beverage especially in Summer. The 2 dozens were finished by end of this week, I drunk as many as I could so my Son won't be seeing them anymore in the fridge. Last week, I chance upon this Football Fridge, isn't it the coolest thing to keep those soda cold while travelling? I want!

refurbished PC.
If you are on a look-out for an affordable PC or laptop, you can check out refurbished PC from perfdata.com. I have seen this refurbished AS/400 and the price seems right for the deal. This site also provides iSeries and i5 customers with a reliable source for diverse, hard to find, new and refurbished midrange hardware and to assist with issues ranging from simple device address cabling problems to complex system tuning and troubleshooting assistance. I think refurbished PCs are way better than used personal computers because usually these PCs were used only for display purposes. Check it out now.

i want my mama!
After weeks of having no bouts of homesickness. I suddenly miss my mom. I want to watch this movie but it would be perfect if I watch it with her. I remember how we're both excited when we watched The Devil Wears Prada 2 years ago. I think this is a perfect mom-daughter movie. Oh well, I guess I have to set this aside for now and reserve watching this (in DVD na lang) until my mom comes over to visit us. Sigh.

car for me?
Hubby and I had a long talk this morning about him getting a car for me. I personally want (and need) to have one but up to now, I still don't have the confidence to take the driving test here. In the end I told hubby that it's not practical for us to get a car for me, because aside from the monthly car amortization we have to pay, we also have to think about the pricey car insurance which is not part of the car's amortization. Until I get my driving license here, I will remain car-less.
