checking one's IP

I was chatting with my friend, Val just the other day about a certain person who left a comment in my blog. Her name was someone who used to be my friend but something happened and so we were never in speaking terms again. It was a kind comment so I had this big suspicion it didn't come from her. Val suggested to check on her IP Address, true enough it wasn't her. I know for a fact because I used a reliable IP address locator site called The IP2Location. This is a geolocation look up database that can be used to reverse translate IP address. You can check on the specific Location (city, country, state etc...), Longitude, Latitude, Zip code, domain name etc... It gave me an idea that it wasn't her. But when I told Val about it, she said my suspicion might still be wrong because my ex-friend's employer is centrally located in another country. Their IP address may reflect a different country from where she is located. Hmmm, probably she's right.

Anyways, if you are trying to locate someone maybe a spammer or a legit blogging buddy, you can check their location through their IP addresses at this site http://www.ip2location.com. But before that, you may want to watch the free demo with free webmaster tools http://www.ip2location.com/demo.aspx. So there's my 2 cents on IP address.
